Our programme
The Hague is the city of care and innovation. The Municipality of The Hague has invested in making healthcare future-proof since 2016. We work with residents, care providers, entrepreneurs and academic institutions to provide the right care technology that will help The Hague residents live at home independently for longer and more comfortably.

The number of vulnerable and elderly residents in The Hague is growing. They are often residents who want to stay in their own homes, even if they need support. The demand for healthcare and healthcare costs are rising, and the personnel shortage in healthcare is also rising.
Living at home safely, independently and comfortably
We think it is important that people can live at home independently and keep control over their own lives. The right care technology can help them live at home safely and comfortably. This could include smart assistive technologies that make the daily lives of residents easier. Or solutions that help lighten and reduce the tasks of carers and care professionals.
Smart and affordable healthcare solutions
We are working with healthcare providers, entrepreneurs and knowledge and academic institutions to find smart and affordable solutions. One of the ways we do this is through the Healthcare Innovation Hub. Residents are at the heart of everything we do. We work with people in The Hague on new ideas and solutions. This will help ensure that everyone receives the right care and support that they need.
Through the Technology for Home platform:
- We raise awareness on what healthcare technology can bring;
- We use our knowledge, expertise and networks to speed up the development and deployment of the right healthcare technology;
- We stimulate local economic activity and employment opportunities for residents at a disadvantage on the labour market.
City of healthcare innovation
Technology for Home is an initiative of the Municipality of The Hague. To stimulate and speed up the development and implementation of technological healthcare innovations, this programme supports The Hague’s start-ups through online consultations, special acceleration programmes, and financing. We thus give start-ups the tools, knowledge and the network to bring their solutions to market. This makes The Hague an excellent location for entrepreneurs who have healthcare innovations.
